Nutcracker Syndrome, aka; Left Renal Vein Compression refers to a compression of the left renal vein, usually between the abdominal aorta and the superior mesenteric artery but occasionally posterior NCS, between the aorta and spine (retro-aortic) or both with 2 left renal veins (circum-aortic). The term Nutcracker “Syndrome” applies when a person has symptoms from this compression, which results in impaired blood outflow from the renal vein.
